«На правом краю луга выстроена большая солдатская уборная – добротно срубленное строение под крышей… Для себя мы ищем кое-что получше. Дело в том, что на лугу там и сям стоят одиночные кабины, предназначенные для той же цели…

Мы сдвигаем три кабины вместе, ставим их в кружок и неторопливо рассаживаемся. Раньше чем через два часа мы со своих мест не поднимемся».

Есть такое заболевание – выпадение прямой кишки. В том числе его можно заработать вот таким сидение. А на войне это плохое подспорье.

«Машины с хлюпаньем ныряют в выбоины, и мы раскачиваемся в полусне из стороны в сторону. В передней част кузова стоят два солдата, которые держат в руках длинные палки с рогулькой на конце. Они следят за телефонными проводами, висящими поперек дороги так низко, что могут снести наши головы».

Тут есть несколько вариантов. Первый – провода натянуты так сильно(конечно же без учета сужения и расширения по сезону), что работают как бритвы. Второй связан с первым – машина несется по ухабистой дороге на скорости выше ста километров в час, чтобы бритвы точно сносили головы солдатам. Ну, а третий вариант совсем простой – на всех проводах висят специальные косы для снимания голов с плеч.

И это офигенная ловушка для наступающего противника, если учесть, что наш главный герой немец, а как известно, немцы и в первую и вторую мировые войны огребли.

Кстати, про русских есть пара слов – в основном их описывают, как немецких пленных, с голодными глазами. Но приятно, что автор их не забыл. Теперь же модно выставить русских либо головорезами на войне, либо как каких-то бродяг, которые случайно примазались к всеобщей победе. А тут все честно – были, воевали, попадали в плен. Совершенно обычные люди. Как и все.

Фильмов существует всего два. Первый – 1930 года. И в нем мне больше всего понравились незамутненные театральные планы. Когда берется театральная сцена, выставляется перспектива и снимается. Дешево и сердито. Впрочем, все фильмы до 50-х гг. грешили этим.

По сюжету у меня больших претензий нет – за исключением мелких деталей, все верно.

Второй фильм – 1979 года. Он тоже верен тексту книги, но поставлен лучше первого фильма. Особенно хороши сцены издевательства Химмельштоса над новобранцами.
