Джо Хилл - Коробка в форме сердца

Попался мне тут на днях небольшой романчик - «Коробка в форме сердца», от неизвестного мне ранее автора - Джо Хилла, изданный в 2007 году. На самом деле, как оказалось, Джозеф Хиллстром Кинг, как не трудно догадаться, является сыном Стивена Кинга. И именно это обстоятельство прежде всего заинтересовало меня в данном произведении.

С самим Кингом у меня довольно странные отношения. Мне нравятся его книги, но читать их - настоящая пытка. Они неспешные, даже больше скажу - тягомотные. Пространные описания природы, и скрупулезные - главных героев. Их прошлого, настоящего, их характеров, их одежды, вредных привычек и прочего. И даже если персонаж появляется в книге на три страницы, две из них будут его описанием. Это сильно вредит тексту, на мой взгляд, поэтому я предпочитаю книгам Кинга, просмотр фильмов, поставленных по его произведениям.

Беря в руки книгу Джо Хилла, я предчувствовала нечто такое. И ошиблась лишь отчасти. Стиль угадывается сразу. Пространные описания есть, но они сокращены до минимума. Основную часть произведения занимает не описание главного героя, а действие, что сразу поставило «Коробку в форме сердца», на несколько ступеней выше, чем «Керри» Кинга старшего и уж тем более выше «Почти как Бьюик».

Сюжет крутится вокруг стареющей рок звезды Джуда Койна(Джастина Ковзински), его подруги Джорджии(Мэрибет) и призрака Макдермотта Прайса.

А началось все с объявления - на продажу в интернете был выставлен лот - призрак отчима Джессики Прайс. Макдермотт скончался, но из дома не ушел, а остался изводить свою падчерицу и ее дочь в собственном доме. Почему-то женщина была уверена, что призрак можно продать, и он переселится к новому владельцу. Для этого был выставлен на торги костюм покойного, в котором его должны были похоронить, но не смогли осуществить волю покойного - костюм оказался ему слишком велик.

Джуд покупает призрака, сочтя это неплохой идеей, и действие романа начинает разворачиваться с того самого момента, когда в дом Койна доставляют посылку - коробку в форме сердца, в которой и лежит злополучный костюм.

Сама история и ее исполнение - прекрасны. Мне было настолько не оторваться от романа, что я проглотила его всего за пару дней. С Кингом у меня подобный номер просто бы не прошел.

И пускай текст - это почти абсолютный Кинг. Его манера изъясняться, его приемы. Такое чувство, что отец преподал сыну несколько ценных уроков, которые напрочь уничтожили сыновью индивидуальность. Ну да ладно, я считаю что так даже лучше. Более динамичный Кинг - это как раз то, чего мне остро не хватало все эти годы.

Права на экранизацию этого романа уже проданы, но фильм, мы скорее всего увидим еще не скоро. В любом случае, я буду следить за новостями и попробую оценить кино, после его выхода.
