В такие периоды их власть опрокидывают Средние, которые призывают под свои знамена Низших, заверив их, что борьба идет за свободу и справедливость. Но, победив, Средние немедленно возвращают Низших на положение рабов, а сами становятся Высшими. И все начинается сначала…».

Любая предвыборная программа, любого из депутатов обещает нам свободу и благоденствие. А на деле? Ничего не меняется, от перестановки мест слагаемых.

«-Что поделать? – всхлипнул Уинстон. – Как мне заставить себя не видеть того, что перед глазами? Ведь дважды два все-таки четыре.

-Иногда, Уинстон. А иногда и пять. Иногда и три. А иногда и так и эдак сразу…».

Это он на Российском рынке не был. Тут не только пять и три, но и тридцать три может быть. Запросто.

«-Да нет же! Вы не владеете даже этой планетой. А как насчет Евразии и Востазии? Ведь вы их пока не завоевали.

-Неважно. Мы завоюем их, когда будет надо. Но даже если и не завоюем – что это меняет? Мы можем считать их несуществующими. Мир – это Океания.

-Однако вся наша планета – лишь пылинка в пространстве. А человек крошечный и беспомощный! Как долго он существует? Ведь миллионы лет Земля была необитаемой.

-Чушь! Земля – наша ровесница, не старше! Как она может быть старше нас? Вне человеческого разума не существует ничего.

-И тем не менее в земле полно костей вымерших животных – мамонтов, мастодонтов и гигантских рептилий, которые населяли Землю задолго до человека.

-Ты когда-нибудь видел эти кости, Уинстон? Ведь нет же. Их выдумали биологи девятнадцатого века. До человека ничего не было. После человека, если ему когда-нибудь придет конец, тоже ничего не будет. Вне человека ничего нет».

Коллективный солипсизм, так это называется в книге. Я бы сказала, что это теория мировоззрения для православных христиан. Именно так они представляют себе возникновение мира – Бог создал Адама и Еву и выдворил их на Землю. С тех пор люди живут на Земле, и когда настанет Судный день – придет конец людям и Земле в целом. А всех динозавров, мамонтов и трилобитов коварные биологи придумали, так и запишите.

Да, к слову сказать. Как опытного крысовода, меня радуют вставки про крыс, в книгах, фильмах или играх. Потому что почти всегда авторы хотят очернить этих зверей и приписывают им те черты, которые хотят у них видеть. Вот вам пример:

-Крысы, - продолжал разглагольствовать О`Брайен, обращаясь по-прежнему к невидимой аудитории, - хотя и являются грызунами, тем не менее плотоядны. Ты это знаешь. Ты же слышал, что происходит порой в бедных кварталах Лондона. На некоторых улицах матери не решаются оставить детей одних и на пять минут, потому что крысы обязательно нападут на ребенка. Они мгновенно объедают его до костей. Крысы нападают также на больных и умирающих людей. Они удивительно хорошо понимают, когда человек беззащитен.

Ну да, ребенка обгладывают. За пять минут. Как пираньи.
