Уинстон Грум - Форрест Гамп

Сегодня хочу сказать буквально пару слов о рассказе Уинстона Грума – «Форрест Гамп», написанном в 1986 году. Мне казалось раньше, что рассказ довольно старый, как минимум 70-х годов, а оказалось, что он старше меня всего на 2 года.

И это то самое исключение из правил, когда фильм лучше, чем книга. Первый раз с таким я столкнулась, когда читала «Сонная Лощина», но там простительно – рассказу без малого 200 лет. Второй раз – «Загадочная история Бенджамина Баттона», когда фильм уделал маленький рассказ на раз. И вот третий случай.

Книга небольшая – я бы даже сказала, что это большой рассказ. Он повествует нам о парне по имени Форрест Гамп, идиоте, как он сам себя называет. На самом деле, у него синдром саванта(как у Шона в сериале «Хороший доктор») – он гений математики. Прекрасно играет в шахматы.

На его долю выпало множество испытаний – он служил во Вьетнаме, летал в космос, жил на острове с каннибалами, встречался с президентами, да и много чего еще. Не мне вам рассказывать – мало кто не видел этот оскароносный фильм.

Особенностью текста является тот факт, что рассказ ведется от лица самого Гампа, а он позиционирует себя идиотом. Соответственно и текст не совсем литературный.

Это напомнило мне о «Цветы для Элджернона» - та книга тоже начинается с кучей орфографических и пунктуационных ошибок, но со временем, текст, как и мозг Гарри развивается.

Тут этого не происходит – Форрест остается на одной ступени развития на протяжении всей своей жизни. Поэтому я не советую читать всем тем, кто переживает за русский язык и правописание – кровь из глаз потечет.

С другой стороны, это сколько же работы надо было проделать, чтобы такой исковерканный английский переложить на русский. И сохранить, и самобытность, и юмор, и адаптировать под русского читателя. Это колоссальный труд.

Я в своих рецензиях часто говорю об ошибках редакторов и переводчиков. Но очень редко хвалю их, когда книга действительно хороша. Исправляюсь.

Я уверена, что половина населения страны не найдет в этом предложении ни одной ошибки. И редко кто, заметил сразу букет.

По сюжету я распространяться не буду – слишком он запутанный. Зато расскажу об отличиях, которые сразу же бросились мне в глаза.

Во-первых, Форрест не Хэнкс. Не щуплый паренек, с обаятельной внешностью. Он стокилограммовый гамадрил с тупейшей физиономией.

Дженни было хорошо без Форреста – она даже удачно вышла замуж.

Бубба не был негром. А еще он почти не говорил о креветках с Гампом. Но тем не менее, Форрест все таки осуществил его мечту о креветочном бизнесе и стал миллионером(просто удивительно, как любой дебил в Америке может заработать свой капитал).

Остальное не так важно. Сюжеты разнятся, но это почти всегда бывает, когда книгу экранизируют. Редко, когда главного героя подделывают под ожидания публики. С другой стороны – 6 оскаров на дороге не валяются.

На этом, пожалуй, все, что я хотела бы сказать об этом произведении. Прочесть было интересно, но не более того. Фильм определенно лучше и сильнее психологически. Советовать эту книгу всем, я бы не стала. Не тратьте свое время.
